This entry was last updated on August 21, 2013

Equal Exchange is the worker-owned co-operative that introduced Fair Trade foods to American grocery stores back in 1986.
With $50,000,000+ in annual sales & 103 worker-owners Equal Exchange is one of the largest worker co-ops in the US. And with staff and members distributed over 10 states from Massachusetts to the West Coast Equal Exchange may be the only worker co-op in the world spread over 3,000 miles and 4 time zones.
In 1986 Equal Exchange started with one product, Nicaraguan coffee, and Fair Trade coffee remains the co-op’s most popular item.
Today Equal Exchange imports, markets and wholesales these organic, Fair Trade products:
Coffee
Tea (black, green & herbal)
Cocoa
Chocolate
Bananas
Sugar
Olive Oil
Nuts
Cereal Bars
Dried fruits and nuts
(& soon rice cakes, jams, & honey)
